PPC-125 Matched Pair Overview
The PPC-125 is a transformer-less electret condenser mic built for serious recording work—whether you’re in a pro studio, a home setup, or running live sound. At the heart of it is a 25 mm unidirectional electret capsule. We chose that size because it delivers the warmth you’d expect from a large-diaphragm vocal mic, but with the extended highs that really bring out the natural character of acoustic instruments.
Every PPC-125 is designed, built, and tested in Nashville, TN. Each capsule is hand-tested for sensitivity and frequency response before it even goes into a mic. Once the mic is assembled, we test it again—this time against a calibrated lab-standard reference mic—to make sure it performs exactly as it should.
The electronics use our own Pure Path Condenser (“PPC”) design, created by veteran audio designer Stephen Mills. The idea is simple: keep the signal path as clean and uncolored as possible, straight from the capsule to the output.
We also rethought the housing. It’s got more open space behind the capsule than most mics in its class, which helps it keep a smooth, consistent tone even when the sound source is off-axis. That design also helps cut down on feedback by avoiding those nasty high-frequency spikes. And the grille? We picked it not just for durability, but because it shields well without messing with the sound—keeping the audio clear all the way from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
