KSM353ED Overview
This microphone is the El Diablo of ribbon microphones. No seriously, the “ED” in the Shure KSM353ED exactly means that. Similar to the KSM313NE, this is a re-branding of the acquired Crowley and Tripp El Diablo. This ribbon microphone is fully symmetrical meaning the frequency response (30Hz-15kHz) is the same on both sides of the mic (bi-directional). Billy Bush, the engineer for the band Garbage, really got some great results from using this mic that didn’t sound like, well, garbage.
