MKH 70 Overview
The MKH 70 is a lightweight long shotgun microphone. The mic uses Sennheiser’s RF Condenser technology, which gives it very high sensitivity with low self-noise, as well as resistance to environmental conditions such as humidity. The mic has 3 switches on the body: a -10dB pad, a low-frequency roll-off, and high-frequency emphasis. The latter is a high shelf compensation for treble loss with distant miking.
This is very popular with those needing to record audiences from a distance in order to keep mics out of camera shots or where shorter shotguns can't be placed close enough.
