WL40V Overview
Released in 2012 the Earthworks WL40V is relatively the new kid on the block in regards to wireless capsules but Earthworks is definitely a proven microphone manufacturer. This is the capsuled version of the SPR40V wired handheld condenser microphone. Like the wired version the capsule has a frequency range spanning from 30Hz – 40kHz and utilizes a hyper cardioid pickup pattern for max gain before feedback. This capsule is compatible with Shure, Sony, Lectrosonic and Line 6 wireless mic systems. What sets this mic apart is its ability to deliver detailed and realistic sound that requires little to no EQ along with benchmark levels of clarity and detail. Some of the notable converts to this capsule include James Taylor and Steely Dan.
